These terms apply to your use of rateweb.africa. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Our Privacy Policy forms part of these terms.
Who we are
Rateweb is an independent personal-finance publisher covering markets across Africa. We are not a bank, lender, broker, insurer, deposit-taking institution or licensed financial adviser. We do not hold client money, we do not sell financial products, and we do not arrange transactions.
What you may do with the site
You may read, use and share our tools and guides for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may link to any page on the site. You may quote short extracts with clear attribution and a link back to the page you took them from.
You may not: copy or republish our content at scale; scrape the site systematically or place unreasonable load on it; present our content as your own; use our name or branding in a way that suggests we endorse you; or attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the site.
Accuracy of information
We take accuracy seriously. Rates, fees, tax tables and product terms are sourced from primary sources — central banks, revenue authorities, regulators and providers' own published documents — and we record when each figure was checked. Our approach is set out in our editorial standards.
Even so, financial information changes constantly, and a figure that was correct when published may not be correct when you read it. Providers change pricing, central banks move rates, and budgets rewrite tax tables. We therefore do not warrant that everything on the site is complete, current or error-free, and you should confirm any figure that matters directly with the provider or the relevant authority before you act on it.
If you find something wrong, please tell us. We verify corrections against sources and fix them.
Calculators and tools
Our calculators produce estimates based on the figures you enter and the rules in force for the country the tool is built for. They necessarily simplify: they cannot account for every allowance, exemption, surcharge or personal circumstance. Treat every result as an indication to be checked, not as a statement of what you will actually pay or receive. In particular, do not rely on a calculator result for a tax filing.
Comparisons, rankings and advertising
Rateweb is free to use and is funded by advertising — including through Google AdSense — and, on some comparisons, by referral commissions paid when a reader chooses to apply through our link. This never costs you more.
Commercial relationships do not determine editorial outcomes. Advertisers and partners have no influence over the order of a comparison table, the score a product receives, or the number a calculator produces. Our comparisons cover the providers we have data for and may not include every product available in your market.
Third-party links and content
The site links to banks, regulators, providers and other third parties. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their products, their terms or their handling of your data. A link is not an endorsement or a recommendation. Once you leave rateweb.africa, the terms and privacy policy of the site you arrive at apply.
Availability
We aim to keep the site available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of the site — including any tool or guide — at any time, and we may update these terms as the site changes.
Intellectual property
The content, design, calculators and branding on this site are owned by Rateweb or used under licence, and are protected by copyright and other rights. Rights in third-party material, including provider names and logos, remain with their owners.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to you, Rateweb is not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site — including financial loss resulting from a decision you made on the basis of information or a calculation published here. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing limits any rights you have as a consumer under the law of your own country.
Governing law
Each Rateweb country site is published for readers in that market and is subject to the laws of that country. Where a dispute concerns a specific country site, the law of that country applies. Consumer protection rights available to you locally are unaffected by these terms.
